Really happy with our overall experience even if it started out a little slow. Dishes have a very different but great concept. Although all 15 meals appealed to me, and my initial shortlist was 10, i eventually settled on a selection of four meals. But as it was a weekday night, it wasn't open. Even though we shared this dessert, it still seemed huge. We hadn't booked and it was only with luck that we were able to snare the last table.
On the top of all that, the staff is friendly. They also have blackboard specials highlighting local vineyards. Our choices included a pickled silverside, celery and corn pie with a seeded mustard potato floater. Staff are friendly and helpful. On the other selection plate was curried rabbit spring rolls with lime mayonnaise, Australian bush herb lamb koftas served with home-made coleslaw and a black grape and native lemon chutney.
But note that statement again. And this really is fine quality dining in a top Geelong restaurant. I am strong believer in you eat with your eyes first. Rated Lobbed in on a Friday night and the place was rocking. The wait was certainly worth it. It was cozy downstairs, candles on each table and warm on a cool night in Geelong. My partner had the pork which was soft and tasty, the scallops again perfect, the beef cheek fell apart and was tender just gorgeous, and the quail with the fennel rosti.
These included selections such as roasted pumpkin, fontina, snow pea tendril, pine nuts and port soaked raisins, while another was covered in meatballs in a rich red wine tomato sauce with melted parmigiana. There was a comprehensive wine list and huge list of over 50 boutique beers and ciders. Rated First time my partner and I experienced Jack and Jill and we'll definitely be back again. The concept is a clever one. I guess kind of a in the spirit of Tapas style , but not.
We reserve the right to cut comments we estimate too long. My partner had the pork which was soft and tasty, the scallops again perfect, the beef cheek fell apart and was tender just gorgeous, and the quail with the fennel rosti. Theirs is a simple life in the outback, far from the big city where a coathanger is being built across a sparkling harbour. Food quality is great, every dish is very carefully prepared and meticulously presented. The Mains are served with either 3 or 4 individual smaller meals on the one plate. Rated This place was fantastic!!!! I can't wait to go back again!!!! All views expressed are those of the writers and may not be the views of publishers of Best Restaurants of Australia. The scallops were perfect, the egg custard and teriyaki chicken was really tasty and something I wouldn't normally order but really enjoyed! Here, guests are invited to create a complete meal out of the small contemporary dishes on the menu that include a good range of vegan and vegetarian options.
It's a good place with the nice atmosphere. Yet despite all the hoopla about this zany little concept restaurant, the cost of meals remains attractive. After dinner, visit the boutique rooftop bar and enjoy a cocktail with the view. I was starting to wonder where our food was considering it was just the two of us but once it came out everything was forgotten about. And thirdly was a duck, chicken and pistachio nut terrine served with beetroot chutney and cassava biscuit. The scallops were perfect, the egg custard and teriyaki chicken was really tasty and something I wouldn't normally order but really enjoyed! My Partner also choose 4, all different to those i selected.
But make sure you book in advance, even on a weeknight. The young guy who waited our table was excellent. My Partner also choose 4, all different to those i selected. They don't serve huge burdensome meals that you struggle to get through. We invite not only those with a positive experience but also constructive criticism.
The main was very filling and we were treated to an array of meals on the menu. Rated This place was fantastic!!!! These are all carefully balanced each with requisite accompaniments. It's the start of all Jill's problems. Spanning the period from the Depression to the freewheeling '60s, Helen Hodgman's second novel—winner of the Somerset Maugham Award—is a masterpiece, a twisted fairytale told with her characteristic dark wit. Overall we had a fantastic time, the service was great very attentive, understanding and they had a laugh with us! The only thing I can pick on was the limited beer and wine menu and it was a little pricey.
The menu had 15 options. Even though it was weeknight, this restaurant was packed. He was friendly, helpful and definitely contributed to a great dining experience. The Mains are served with either 3 or 4 individual smaller meals on the one plate. You will have fun trying this gem of a restaurant. I am terribly indecisive usually when making a selection from a menu, but tonight I promised myself I wouldnt be.
